Central-Space Coast Minority Purchasing Council was founded by thirteen companies in 1980 in Central Florida. It changed its name to the Greater Florida Minority Development Council (GFMDC) after merging with the Florida West Coast Minority Purchasing Council in Jacksonville.

The name was later changed to the Florida National Minority Supplier Development Council Inc. in 1992. In 2002, the name was changed again to the Florida Minority Supplier Development Council (FMSDC). Finally, it changed its name to what it uses today, the Central & North Florida Minority Supplier Development Council (CNFMSDC), in 2011.

CNFMSDC aims to offer minority-owned enterprises a direct connection to the corporate world of America. As a member organization of the corporate world, the council’s major objective is assisting large corporations with their efforts towards supplier diversity.

Malik is the president of the council. Born in New York, Malik holds a BS in Chemical Engineering. He began creating the ‘Black Community Game’ while working as a Chemical Engineer on a full-time job at Polaroid. He got involved with FMSDC while working at Walt Disney as the MBE Programs Director, a position he held for 14 years. Before he became the council’s President in 1997, he worked as the council’s Board Chairman for about 13 years.

FMSDC is the only NMSDC Network Council with an ISO 9001-2000 certification. Despite being the largest MBE trade fair in America’s Southeast, it has an award-winning website, including a MBE online directory with a CNFMSDC certification. The council has a large database to offer large corporations a huge selection of suppliers throughout the U.S.

The council offers financing and capital identification for purchase or contract orders to minority-owned enterprises. It focuses on process-based sourcing that meets the requirements of large corporations and provides support to agencies and companies with no programs for minority business owners.

What’s more, the council’s President has more than 15 years rich experience in Buyer/Management Training and Support.
